Cullochy breach update

Cullochy breach update

Wed 18 Mar 2015

The temporary rock dam at Aberchalder Bridge is now in place and is holding back Loch Oich enough to allow backfilling of the remains of Cullochy weir. Sheet piling specialists are due to begin work at the end of this week and engineers remain on schedule to reopen this section of canal at the end of April.  30mph signs have been installed on the A82 around the bridge to slow the road traffic, which will help paddlers who choose to portage from Loch Oich to Cullochy Lock.

60 miles in 5 days

It is an epic 60 mile (95km) journey crossing Scotland in 5 days and conquering the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, a challenge in itself.

From South to North

It is normally easier to paddle the Trail from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east with the prevailing wind behind you.
