Muirtown Basin hosts canal’s first canoe polo tournament

Tue 13 May 2014

40 paddlers took to the waters of Muirtown Basin in Inverness on Saturday 10th May, to hold Nairn Kayak Club's first canoe polo tournament. The club enjoyed clear weather and light winds, and set up their polo 'pitch' just outside Seaport Marina, meaning that neighbouring yachtsmen, local residents and passersby had a great view of the action. The club practice on the canal most Wednesday evenings and expect to hold a second tournament later in the year. To find out more about the sport, visit www.canoepolo.org.uk

60 miles in 5 days

It is an epic 60 mile (95km) journey crossing Scotland in 5 days and conquering the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, a challenge in itself.

From South to North

It is normally easier to paddle the Trail from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east with the prevailing wind behind you.
