Important Information for Paddlers

From Saturday 11th January until Sunday 16th March 2014 the Caledonian Canal will be closed to through traffic to allow essential repairs to be carried out at some locations.

Some of the canal locks and bridges may not be accessible during this time - paddlers should please call the Caledonian Canal office on 01463 725500 before they set off to check on accessibility.

It is an epic 60 mile (95km) journey crossing Scotland in 5 days and conquering the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, a challenge in itself.

From South to North

It is normally easier to paddle the Trail from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east with the prevailing wind behind you.
