Voluntary Contribution Programme

The Great Glen Way is one of the UK's most stunning long distance routes. To help keep improving the facilities and services along the routes the Great Glen Ways team have set up this programme that allows users to support the developments.

To kickstart the programme three projects were chosen from feedback received through the annual route user survey. In 2010 the first goal was achieved with installation of new seating along the walking route, thanks to the generosity of the route users.
With the development of new initiatives in the Glen, such as the Canoe Trail and the Trailblazers' Rests, we have now added a further two projects to offer the three route users an opportunity to support their trail.

60 miles in 5 days

It is an epic 60 mile (95km) journey crossing Scotland in 5 days and conquering the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, a challenge in itself.

From South to North

It is normally easier to paddle the Trail from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east with the prevailing wind behind you.
