At Explore Highland, we can help support your self-guided Great Glen Canoe Trail. Being based on the canal we are ideally suited to support your adventure with our local knowledge, experience and with additional kit/equipment if required.

We can offer best practise advice on Canoe Trail logistics from the outset, help transfer your group to Fort William from Inverness at the start of your adventure, or shuttle you and your equipment from the finish in Inverness back to your vehicles in Fort William. Not only do we have a comfortable (and well equipped) Ford minibus that seats eight passengers, we also have the added ability of pulling in larger sixteen seat minibuses for larger groups.

For those who opt for a shuttle at the start of your adventure, during the two hour drive from Inverness to Fort William, we can highlight safety information and point out key landmarks, facilities, food shops and other services on route. This saves you having to complete all the portages with up to five days food and water on board. Our clients find this an invaluable way of checking their route plans and finding out about the local area.

With our range of trailers and vehicle roof racks, we are able to move up to nine open canoes or fourteen sea kayaks with a single vehicle shuttle.

All our clients also receive our GGCT self-guiding checklist and access to our online Great Glen Canoe Trail client information page which is packed full of helpful advice, planning info and contact details for services throughout the Caledonian Canal.

Please contact us for further information and a bespoke quote. We offer far more than just a shuttle service!

Emergency Uplift

Should the unforeseen happen and you need to evacuate off the trail due to bad weather or injury, Explore Highland are able to help facilitate unplanned emergency shuttles too.

It is an epic 60 mile (95km) journey crossing Scotland in 5 days and conquering the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, a challenge in itself.

From South to North

It is normally easier to paddle the Trail from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east with the prevailing wind behind you.
