About Us
With a successful working relationship built up through delivering the Great Glen Way project in which Highland Council took the lead , the four main organisations then set about on a second part of the project - The Great Glen Canoe Trail.
Each of the four funding organisations have a representitive on the project and for the partnership to work, the Scottish Canoe Association were also invited onboard. Highlands & Islands Partnership Programme administed the regional funding of the European Regional Development Fund
The original partnership representatives were:
- Ailsa Andrews, Scottish Canals
- Lynda Dodd, Highland Council
- Chris Wright, Scottish Natural Heritage
- Craig Millar, Forestry Commission Scotland
- Eddie Palmer, Scottish Canoe Association
- Gillian Campbell, Highlands & Islands Partnership Programme
Now that the Trail's infrastructure is in place, the partnership meet twice yearly to discuss the operation and future plans for the Canoe Trail. The funders, as part of the match funding agreement, have signed up to ensure the Trail is maintained for a minimum of 10 years.
