Ice warning

The recent cold snap has caused the canal to freeze in some areas, so paddling may not always be possible. If you're planning a trip during the cold weather, call the Canal Office on 01463 725500 (Mon - Fri) to check before you set off. At weekends you can call the Sea Lock offices on 07917 348025 (Corpach) or 07920 237331 (Clachnaharry).

Please remember, it's never safe to walk on the ice.

It is an epic 60 mile (95km) journey crossing Scotland in 5 days and conquering the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, a challenge in itself.

From South to North

It is normally easier to paddle the Trail from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east with the prevailing wind behind you.
